Where to start FPV Drone Flying

There are many suggestions on what to purchase to start flying FPV Drones. In this day and age there are many products, kits, and things that you can buy. The amount of reviews on these products can be daunting and the prices can go up to a few thousand dollars.

The best way to start flying FPV is in a simulator where you spend $200 or less on a radio controller $20-$30 on the simulator and every crash cost you a reset button. This is the way to find out if FPV drones are for you or not.

At this moment the barrier to fly FPV drones is a bit high due to the constantly evolving hardware, firmwares, and the need to be able to fix, and diagnose issues. This series aims to teach you how to fly FPV Drones first and help gauge your interest. Then if this is something that you feel like you would enjoy then we can get into what to buy, and get you flying IRL. If you find that this is not for you the radio can be sold and there is not much of a financial loss.

Street League Spec Drones are one of the best learning tools for new pilots as the "SPEC" slows the drones down and lets you focus on how to control the drone. Velocidrone the official sim partner of Street League Spec Drone Racing has captured how the spec flies IRL, and lets new pilots enjoy, learn and practice FPV without the risk of breaking and then needing to repair an actual drone.
